Ray Mancini Net Worth
Ray Mancini, the retired American boxer, has a net worth of $5 million. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on March 4, 1961, Mancini inherited his athletic talent and nickname, “Boom Boom,” from his father, veteran boxer Lenny “Boom Boom” Mancini.
Mancini turned professional in 1979, after enjoying a successful amateur career, and quickly caught the attention of American television networks with his whirlwind punching style. He defeated notable boxers such as Norman Goins and Jose Luis Ramirez before making his first world title attempt against WBC Lightweight Champion Alexis Arguello in 1981. Although he was ultimately defeated in the 14th round, Mancini continued to pursue his dream of becoming a champion.
Seven months later, Mancini fulfilled his dream by winning the title in a bout against Arturo Frias, successfully defending the WBA lightweight crown four times. However, his career was marred by the death of Duk-Koo Kim, whom he knocked out in a 1982 fight. Still recovering from the emotional trauma of Kim’s death, Mancini lost his title in a 1984 battle with Livingstone Bramble in Buffalo, New York. He retired in 1985 with a record of 29-5, with 23 knockouts.
In his post-boxing days, Mancini appeared in and produced several films.
